April was National Financial Literacy month and we celebrated by partnering with our local libraries for their Smart Money Storytimes! Featuring the book, Owl + Otter and The Big Talent Show, kids were taught the importance of saving, budgeting, and spending wisely through reading and various activities. Concluding National Volunteer Month, we rolled up our sleeves to remove the invasive species, black jetbead, at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center with the Clinton River Watershed Council! Black jetbead is a dense shrub, growing up to 5 ft tall, that blocks out sunlight and resources for native plants to grow and flourish. Annually we partner with the Clinton River Watershed Council on various cleanup projects to drive an impact for a greener, cleaner tomorrow!

Congratulations to our community partners at Micah 6 Community on the groundbreaking of the Webster Community Center! Webster Community Center is a $34 million dollar adaptive reuse of the vacant Webster Elementary located on West Huron in Pontiac. Once completed, it will serve as a mixed-use community center featuring a collection of local nonprofit organizations and small businesses.
